Which Indian language?

India is home to many different languages. Hindi is the principle official language of the republic, with English being recognised as a secondary official language. However, there are several hundred languages – of which 29 are spoken by more than a million mother-tongue speakers (2001 Census). Amongst other factors, the appropriate language for a translation is determined by region and intended audience.

WorldAccent uses years of experience to guide you on this, and offers translation into all the major languages of India and neighbouring countries. Services include Bengali translation, Gujarati translation, Hindi translation, Malayalam translation, Marathi translation, Nepali translation, Punjabi translation, Sinhalese translation, Tamil translation and Urdu translation. Our in-house studio also offers a complete Indian language typesetting service.

Professional Indian translation

A successful translation will always pay attention to style, linguistic connotations and cultural appropriateness.

When translating from English to a language of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh, we only employ professional, mother-tongue translators. The translator for your project will be selected specifically according to language skills, educational background, subject knowledge and experience.

We consider how you wish to use and distribute your translation into an Indian language. Unlike in English, there are several font codings for each language in common use and these may not be compatible with each other. In considering your requirements we can advise on how to avoid the pitfalls that can arise from this.

We are proud to live and work in London – the most linguistically diverse city in the world, with more than 300 languages spoken. Our Indian typesetting service is second to none. We know that creating a foreign language version of a document involves far more that just flowing in translated text. We apply the same high standards to translating your visual design from English to a range of Indian languages as we do to the text itself. We have all the technical knowledge you would expect, from an in-depth understanding of Indian typefaces and character coding systems to an authoritative knowledge of Quark Xpress, InDesign, Illustrator, Word, Photoshop, Excel, Powerpoint, Acrobat and more.
